Mercedes Homes, represented by a group of employees and led by Dennis Ginder, divisional president, recently donated a safe place for kids to be kids. Heather Forshee and Kerry Soltis, both of Mercedes Homes, coordinated the event.
An attractive playground area, which includes a large play set, picnic table and landscaping, were donated by Mercedes Homes to the Trinity Rescue Mission Women and Children’s Center. On April 8, the Mercedes team assembled the play set in a little over four hours. The mission of Mercedes Homes’ charitable activities focuses on women and children in the community.
“We want to give children a safe place to play and to get away from the stress they are experiencing in their young lives,” Forshee said. “Setting up the playground also gives us an opportunity to give back to the community.”
The play set and picnic table were set up in the Trinity Rescue Mission Women and Children’s Center playground area. The children who will be in residence at the Center will have a place to find a reprieve from their tough circumstances.
“This is not the first time that Mercedes Homes has given back to their community,” Ginder said. “The people here today are not just builders but office personnel as well. Mercedes Homes and the community both benefit from team-building exercises such as this.”
Mercedes Homes is a member of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, which also has been a great supporter of the Trinity Rescue Mission Women and Children’s Center.
“We are honored to partner with Mercedes Homes. The company’s commitment to excellence as a builder, dedication to our community and to women and children in need made this a great match,” said Gene Pruett, executive director of Trinity Rescue Mission. “It was great to see so many enthusiastic volunteers come out early on a Saturday morning to make someone else’s life better. Trinity Rescue Mission could not provide services for those in need without community minded organizations like Mercedes Homes.”
