NEFBA/JEA launch Green Built Homes of Florida

Mayor proclaims Green Building Week

June 1 was the official launch of Green Built Homes of Florida, a program under development by the Northeast Florida Builders Association and JEA for more than a year. At the ceremony, Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton issued a proclamation declaring the first week in June, “Green Building Week.”

In a ceremony at a Beazer Homes’ model in the Villages of Westport, representatives of the major stockholders, Jacksonville City Council and the mayor met with the public and press to discuss the Green Built Homes of Florida program, which promotes the use of energy- and water-efficient building practices in new single-family homes in Northeast Florida.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the Beazer model homes for a first-hand look at some of the practices and products involved in Green Built certification.
